event details: 2/26/2025 10:00 AM - 2/27/2025 2:00 PM Export event

Is there a plan in place to transition your family’s farm or ranch to the next generation?

On February 26th and 27th, workshops will be held in Broken Bow and Burwell to help families navigate common landmines including legal, financial, and communication issues.

Joe Hawbaker, an estate planning attorney, will cover tools for long term legal viability of your farm or ranch.

Dave Goeller, a financial planner and retired Nebraska Extension transition specialist, will talk about family finances, business, and communication issues.

Join us on February 26th in Broken Bow at the 4-H Building on the fairgrounds, or February 27th at the Legion Hall in Burwell.  Both workshops will be held from 10 am – 2 pm CT and will be free of charge.

Registration is appreciated one week prior for a meal count, but walk-ins are welcome that day!

Register by calling the Rural Response Hotline at 1-800-464-0258 or the Extension Offices in Broken Bow or Burwell.

These workshops are hosted by Legal Aid of Nebraska, Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Dept of Ag, and Farmers Union Foundation. Thank you to our sponsors: Heartland Bank, Pathway Bank, and Farm Credit Services of America for sponsoring the meals.

Again, sign up by calling the local Extension Office in Broken Bow or Burwell.  Walk-ins are welcome.

Take the time to learn from experts and complete a plan to transition your assets and management to the next generation.  These workshops will be held on February 26th and 27th.
